Hone Your Selling Skills and Seize Opportunities

When Lee was a fresh grad, he sold sign to a number of retail establishments. He would walk into the loaded deli at lunchtime with his signs under his arm. He would ask for the proprietor and the owner would say, “I don’t need any signs”. But Lee, would lay them down on the floor and ask “that’s Ok, which ones do you like? And in the next few minutes, he would exit from the deli with 2 signs sold and a roast beef hero under his arms.

So, instinctively we knew that if you don’t ask for sale, no one was going to give it to you. You had to push yourself to the limits to exceed the feelings of denial and re- interpret it as not letdown, but success finding out something that didn’t work gave you the opportunity to find another way to make it work.Being open, reading body language, being a good listener and being in tune with people’s feelings and needs. This attitude is the same to real estate and what Lee Schneider did was seize opportunity.

After living in Long Beach and meeting an ex-con, followed by a religious nut-job for roommates, Lee had an opportunity to find his own place. He got a gorgeousnewly built 2 bra houses in Amityville, NY complete with DR, LR W/D and fenced in yard for his dog. His landlord gave him his furniture for a lesser cot to be paid off monthly and it was too good to ignore. Though his neighbor was rough they became friends. He asked his Lee if he wanted to go “Woodstock” the 25th Anniversary Concert in upstate, NY Guy, but Lee refused. It was found out that Guy Rousseau was got killed at the concert and Rousseau’s family asked him if he wanted to buy the house. Without a doubt he bought the house for 80K and this is how Lee owned his first house.

There is an adage that says “it’s not what you know, but who you know and this couldn’t be truer. For Lee Schneider, the rules applies not the Lee was benefactor of a great inheritance nor had the proverbial “rich uncle.” However, Lee did manage to find a pocket of good opulence.  Lee has a saying; luck is the fruit of persistence. The driving force behind all good fortune is the hard work and being sternly watchful and resourceful.
